_The INFANT PARENT SUPPORT PROJECT is an initiative to meet the needs
of children and parents where there are issues related to problem drug
and/or alcohol use antenatally and in the infant stages of the
child?s life, and where adequate services and support are not being
accessed. The project recognises the specific needs of parents and
children within this target group, and is the first of its kind
nationally. While providing direct action at local level, it also
impacts on service delivery locally and nationally, and assists in
developing practice in this specific area of intervention._
We are currently inviting applications for the following position.
INFANT PARENT SUPPORT WORKER.

Fixed Term Contract. Part Time ? 3 Day Week.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR individuals with enthusiasm, commitment, and
initiative. The successful candidate will have the following:
* Capacity to engage with individuals and families who are
experiencing difficulties with drug or alcohol use.
* Capacity to provide liaison and support for pre and post-natal
parents, up to the toddler years, in collaboration with the Drug
Liaison Midwifery Service, Doctors/Prescribers and other related
health care professionals.
* Capacity to work with parents from an infant mental health
perspective.
* Capacity to engage with the range of community networks and
parenting supports that are available to the parents attending the
service.
* Capacity to work with the Infant Parent Support Project Team in
the delivery of a range of services offered by the Project, and to
support the development and maintenance of services that are
accessible and responsive.
* Capacity to undertake client assessment and care planning.
* Capacity to adhere to the highest standards of professionalism,
and to the policies and procedures of the Project.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
* Relevant Maternity/Public Health Nursing/Midwifery qualification
and experience. This post does not require the applicant to be
registered with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, formerly
called An Bord Altranais.
* An understanding of Infant Mental Health
* Capacity/experience of working in community settings.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:
* Understanding of Substance Use issues.
* Experience/Knowledge of Neo Natal Abstinence and Foetal Alcohol
Spectrum Disorders (FASD).
* Ability to work flexibly, creatively and with empathy.
* Experience of working with marginal groups.
* Experience in mental health settings.

work offsite.
